Partnering with a roofing company here in the DFW metroplex, we help document the present condition of a small commercial roof for a church in Plano, TX. The insurance company approved the replacement of the shingled portion of the roof but was fighting the replacement of the flat roof area. The roofing company involved found numerous leaks from the roof covered by the flat roof system and had strong suspicion the roof was holding heavy moisture. This was an old Mod Bit roof system that we suspected to be over 20 years old.
Our job was to come in and fly the roof capturing drone visible and thermal images, documenting the present condition of both the interior and exterior of the roof. All of our findings were to be processed into a detailed report to help show the insurance company the damage that needs to be replaced. We always deliver all the images captured in the field to give you more perspectives and high resolution imagery for more detailed review and inspection outside of what our report provides.
After performing our thermal roof scan, we identified roughly 38% of the roofs structure contained suspected moisture. That calculated out to be sq’ and the roofs total square footage was sq’. In many insurance policies, this amount of moisture intrusion, assuming the roofing company went back and confirmed her presence of suspected moisture, would be enough to deem this roof a total loss and would be a candidate for full replacement. The report was sent to the insurance carrier for review and we await the results of our involvement in this project!
