Conducting a proper thermal roof scan is much more difficult than just going up and snapping a few images. You have to understand the science behind it. Weather conditions and building science play a huge roll in when you should be on site to capture the most favorable inspection results. If you are there at the wrong time, you could easily detect false IR’s or capture images that indicate the roof is clean when it’s not. The best way to know you were there at the peak is to stay until your images become less clear as to where the suspected moisture is located. This basically means the surface of the roof is getting closer to a uniform temperature rather than having variations from the moisture within the roof.
