We Think Safety First When Operating Drones in Dallas Airspace

The following video share by DroneDJ.com shows a ‘near collision’ between a drone and a helicopter that took place between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, FL.

Back in April of this year, a medical helicopter was taking off at Dallas’s Love Field and had to avoid a collision with a drone.

From DroneDJ.com: “Check out this near-miss drone video that was just posted on YouTube yesterday. It shows you how a helicopter can quickly appear out of nowhere and come at you fast. All of a sudden, your leisure drone-flight along the Hollywood Beach, FL coastline, could potentially cause a tragic accident, guaranteed to make the headlines throughout the country. Luckily this one ended well, but it shows you how careful we all have to be when flying our drones in a congested airspace.”

It certainly highlights the potential danger that drone operators Dallas airspace may face when shooting images or video for their clients — or for anyone operating a recreational drone as well. At Tarillo Vue, we take into consideration where we’re flying and pre-evaluate the airspace around us before taking our drones into the sky.

The action happens on the video between 15 and 20 seconds. It’s a close call for sure!

he Federal Aviation Administration says no small unmanned aircraft can fly in Class B airspace near the airport without permission from the FAA, and they shouldn’t fly higher than 400 feet above ground.
