We performed an aerial thermal roof inspection to help an engineering group and essentially the property owner determine the extent of water damage within this commercial low sloped roofing system. We performed an aerial infrared roof scan on a large commercial roof for a roofing company and property owner out of Mesquite Texas. The purpose of this inspection was to determine if the roof contained suspected moisture, and if it did, where. The property owner was looking to have a new roof system installed over the existing one. In order to acquire the best available warranty from GAF, the manufacturer, they needed evidence that the roof was dry. Our detailed report reveled that the roof had heavy moisture intrusion. We were hired by Venture Construction Group of Florida to document roof damages from Hurricane Irma last year. These roofs were all apart of the same Condo Association. As you can see in the article and images, temporary repairs were installed to prevent further leaks while the insurance claim was being processed and repairs were being performed. Partnering with a land surveyor, we completed an aerial map of an apartment complex in Dallas, TX. By correlating ground control points in to this aerial map, we were able to accomplish an approximate horizontal relative accuracy range of 0.7 in, an approximate vertical relative accuracy range of 1.22 in, optimized camera location error of X 0.52 in, Y 0.48 in, Z 1.22 in, and an optimized camera location XYZ RMSE 1.41 cm/pixel. This project saved the land surveyor hours in the field, essentially saving the client hundreds of dollars.
